TELL ME THAT YOU'LL OPEN YOUR EYES
i've been listening to a lot of music lately. i mean, this is quite regular, but perhaps enhanced by the fact that i recently purchased iPod of 80G capacity (there is no "the", "an", or "my" in iPod talk). so all those cds i haven't listened in forever, yes the 400 or so, they're now on iPod, in my pocket, and hooked up to my car stereo unit by way of a very difficult and frustrating but ultimately rewarding night that involved bending backward into my car, a mirror and a small eyeball shaped flashlight. ok, now i'm totally lost. i don't remember where i was going with this.

so do you think God is still there? or at least, does he want to communicate?

i just spent the last two hours scanning mp3 blogs, finding new music, mostly swedish and british music (there really are a lot of british bands sounding like Kaiser Chiefs and the Futureheads lately). anyone into last.fm? it's got me paranoid that i have to get iPod plugged in before sunday morning at 6am or else my weekly artists will be messed up. yeah, it happened this week. Winterkids are supposed to be way higher.

so, new music recomendations...
Winterkids - Memoirs
Sondre Lerche - Phantom Punch

as for the Shins new album, "Australia" is the only great song on it. the new Of Montreal's a little weird. and Bloc Party's A Weekend In The City is pretty good, if you free your mind, and think back to those days when bands like The Appleseed Cast were in heavy rotation in your cd booklet (the one that for some reason all the cds inside got scratched, oh wait, that's because cd books are crap, i'm not doing that anymore).

I CAN'T BE YOUR FRIEND COS I GOTTA KNOCK YOU OUT, THIS IS WAR
yeah, i don't write here much. i guess i don't have much to say. right now i'm listening to Ben Kweller's new self-titled album a lot. i can't take it out of my cd player. it's just right. it's a great blend of his first two albums, and a big Tom Petty influence. probably my favorite album of the year. it's gonna be a battle be this and Hot Chip, and i'm still not sure how i feel about the new Killers album. it might be good, and it might be awful.

i have equipment to record now. however i don't really have availability to do it. my room collects a lot of noise. flourescent light hums, furnace growls, a hundred footsteps above, and a whole lot of random voices. (the people upstairs, not in my head). i'd really love to write a whole bunch of songs and make an album, but i just don't feel it, there's no time, no space. i gotta find peace again. but now, i have to get back to work.

LOVE'S ALL YOU NEED IN THE WORLD TO SUCCEED
so, being in Israel right now, it's kinda like when you were a kid and you were hanging out at a friends house, but a friend that lived far away, and your parents were gonna pick you up later that night, but then there was this big thunderstorm or snowstorm, and you had to spend the night cos it got so bad. yeah, well, we're waiting to see how bad this thunderstorm is, and wondering if we'll need to spend the night. there's nothing really going on around us, it's just a fear that since Israel bombed Lebanon's airports, that there might be an attempt at some retaliation. we leave in a week, so let's see how much more chaos will happen. a few of my friends are in the army right now, a couple in Gaza. Ariel was in Gaza yesterday defending the airport that the IDF took control of. fighting broke out, but he got out ok. he's only had one day off in the last two weeks so we haven't seen him here at Souled Out. Yossi and Rami are also in Gaza, but mostly on the outside. Lior drives a hummer somewhere near some arab villiage. Andrey's old platoon was the one that got hit up in the north, the tank that was blown up. three of his good friends died in that tank. a lot seems to be happening, but it's weird because i don't actually see it. i see helicopters going up and down the coast and fighter jets every one and a while. i'm taking lots of pictures, over 700 so far, so i'll have to figure out some kind of photodoc at some point. alright, i'm gonna go drink some coke and have some cheetos. it's like a delicacy.
